Hamlet
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in our philosophy."
It was while wandering around the library that I came across a book that was a collection of letters between Vincent and Theo Van Gogh. As I read the words of this famous author, I was suddenly hit with how it felt so similar to things in Hamlet. I could suddenly see the tortured artist and how he sees everyone around him. Thus, a mental project was born.
Every character, except for Hamlet who's visually inspired by Van Gogh himself, is based on a painting by Van Gogh. For example, Horatio, being the last person that Hamlet sees before he dies, is based on Starry Night, one of the last paintings that Vincent completed. The idea behind this is that this play through Hamlet's eyes, and therefore everyone's costumes will be textured manipulated to mimic paint strokes.
